I'm Bonnie,
nice to meet you.
I'm a UX Researcher skilled at rapidly ideating, collaborating, and empathizing with the user in order to tell an effective story. I love working with a diverse group of people and developing new ideas. I get really excited about how technology can help build and strengthen communities. In my next role, I want to work on a passionate team, dedicated to improving the customer's experience and creating new features to drive customer loyalty and engagement.

How I got started in user experience
I was drawn to UX because I felt it united my distinct skill set and strengths in a really exciting way.

I was an actor and administrative assistant in New York City before moving to Ann Arbor to pursue a graduate degree in User Experience Design and Research at University of Michigan's School of Information.
As an actor I learned the importance of empathy, how to create narrative and work effectively with other people as a team.
In undergrad I studied Journalism and worked on the daily student-run newspaper all four years. As a page designer I learned the tenants of graphic design and as a writer I learned how to find sources and conduct an effective interview. Looking back, it feels like I was preparing for a career in UX all along.

What I've been working on
In my first year of graduate school, I was fortunate enough to work with many real-world clients both in, and outside of the classroom. From testing a tool developed by the City of Detroit's Mayor's office, to helping a non-partisan organization redraw district lines, I had the chance to participate in a wide variety of UX projects.
After graduation with an internship at Rocket Mortgage under my belt I was hired as a UX Researcher at Rocket Homes, a home search app and website.

Turning to the agency side while at Merkle, I had the pleasure of working on projects for Google Shopping and YouTube before being laid off in 2023.
Now, at Allegion I'm working on developing their IoT platform and mobile app experiences connecting the hardware and software tools creating one seamless experience for our users.

What I'm curious about
As someone with 5 years of experience working in the corporate UX world, I am interested in taking the next steps to be a leader in the workplace. I am excited to learn more about facilitation design and helping teams thrive.
I am also highly curious about how to create inclusive design and keep accessibility in mind.
